A collection of 7 stylized character concept sketches exploring a variety of personalities, expressions, and archetypes. Each portrait was drawn in a 30-60 minute timed session, focusing on line quality, shape language, and emotional storytelling through facial features. These character portraits range from battle-hardened outlaws to enigmatic people in their day-to-day lives; leveraging photo reference, I wanted to capture a spectrum of emotion and shape through line and shadow. This series also emphasizes loose, expressive line work paired with subtle value shading to define mood and character attitude. I created these as part of an ongoing sketch study practice to refine my abilities for character ideation speed, versatility, and likeness for games and animation projects.
